Uniprint Infinity

Product Overview - UniPrint Infinity

UniPrint Infinity is the industry's original printer-vendor independent managed print solution for any IT environment. Based on UniPrint's patented PDF-based Universal Printer Driver and Virtual Print Queue, UniPrint Infinity simplifies printer management and enables anywhere, anytime, any device secure pull printing across different platforms, offices and geographies.

In addition, Uniprint Infinity also provides a proven ROI through its statistics module, virtual print queue print technology and document archiving functionality.

  • Secure Pull Printing - Uniprint Infinity presents dual print security through PDF encryption and user authenticated pull printing, attributed to UniPrint's patented, PDF-based Universal Printer Driver and innovative Virtual Print Queue.
  • UniPrint Infinity vPad - is a multi-purpose network print appliance which enables dual print security through PDF encryption and user-authenticated pull printing, whilst the Uniprint Infinity printing software is being used.   It can also replace print servers in remote locations and, by allowing print stream compression, solves remote printing bandwidth issues that frequently occur with print server centralisation initiatives.
  • PrintPal - a printer mapping utility that enables network administrators to create rules and assign printers to specific user profiles with ease.  This advanced feature of Uniprint Infinity PrintPAL ensures that users are assigned with the right printer at all times, whenever and wherever they are working.
  • Printer Profiles - another advanced feature of the Uniprint Infinity printing solution.   The Printer Profiles utility enables IT administrators to create profiles per printer or driver.  The profiles can contain a single or group of special settings which can be applied when a user prints.  This feature enables customers to move to a universal printer driver solution without losing the advanced printer properties of multifunction printers.
  • High Availability Module - to ensure maximum print service up time and eliminate any single point of failure, this function (HA) Module can be set up to provide full redundancy.
  • VPQ Connector for Xerox MFPs - enables smooth integration of the UniPrint Infinity Virtual Print Queue (VPQ) technology with Xerox Extensible Interface Platform (EIP) compatible multifunction printers (MFPs).   This enables users to release print jobs securely and on demand to any printer anywhere.  Thuse saving the company money, by reducing energy expenditures and improving security.

Connecting to the UniPrint application server, a user prints from any application. UniPrint then encrypts and converts the print data into PDF, which compresses the print job by as much as 90%. This results in reducing bandwidth utilisation and enabling faster and more reliable print job transmission. The print job can then be "pulled" by the authenticated user and print to any selected printer. For added security, a password-protected secure PIN can be added to the print job.

Uniprint Infinity for BOYD Printing

As part of Citrix or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment, the UniPrint Infinity software allows any BYOD user (including Apple iOS or Android users) to print to any existing network printer within a session.  This can be achieved by using a Remote Desktop application or using the Citrix receiver.

Using UniPrint's Universal Printer Driver (UPD), any BYOD user will now enjoy all the other benefits of UniPrint Infinity including secure pull printing.

Thin & Zero Client Printing

The use of thin clients and zero clients has been on the rise across industry sectors for good reasons. Thin/zero clients offer PC-like user experience in addition to cost saving, manageability, scalability and security, and are especially beneficial for the healthcare industry where security is at a premium, due to laws such as HIPAA legislated by the U.S. government mandating privacy compliance.

UniPrint Infinity is a software-based printing solution designed to enhance the benefits of thin/zero client architecture, providing secure pull printing to all clients across platforms, printer hardware, locations and geographies. These clients could be Windows based or Linux based.

Cloud Printing - simple to manage and easy to deploy

Based on UniPrint's award-winning, patented Universal Printer Driver (UPD) and Virtual Print Infrastructure, the UniPrint Infinity™ software enables simple and reliable follow-the-user printing of any application (desktop, web or mobile) on any device (PC, tablet or other web-based device) to any printer (regardless of make or model, cloud-ready or not). UniPrint Infinity customers reap the benefits of simplified print management, enhanced printing functionality, improved document security, and reduced printing costs, all of which are keys to driving your business efficiency, competitiveness and success.

No more driver problems or print queue errors. At the core of UniPrint Infinity is our patented, PDF-based UniPrint Universal Printer Driver. By standardizing the languages of printers, UniPrint™ UPD replaces all manufacturer printer drivers thus negating the need to manage multiple printer drivers in any computing environment – Citrix, Microsoft RDS, VMware View and Cloud. Because IT administrators only need to install and manage one single printer driver on the Windows print server, their jobs are made much easier and less time consuming. UniPrint Infinity virtually eliminates all printer incompatibility issues that occur in cloud computing.

Through the UniPrint Print Server, UniPrint Infinity eliminates the need to install client software on user devices enabling clientless or zero client printing. UniPrint's all-client capability promotes reliable and fast printing no matter where you are working in the Cloud.

With UniPrint Virtual Print Queue (VPQ), UniPrint Infinity adds "pull printing" or "follow-the-user printing" in Cloud Computing. Print commands sent to busy or non-functioning printers can be redirected to other available printers for immediate printing minimizing unnecessary work disruption caused by a printer bottleneck.

The result: All users connecting to any platform can print from any client device to any printer in any location across geographies.

UniPrint Infinity is PDF based. By deploying UniPrint Print Servers in remote locations, print spool files will be converted and compressed as much as 90%, providing speedier printing with the added benefit of less network bandwidth usage.

UniPrint Infinity is a true UPD that supports any printer make or model. This gives organizations more freedom to choose printers in a cloud computing environment. Rather than dictating what printers your end users must standardize to print, UniPrint allows your clients (end users) to choose printers based on their specific business requirements, pick the "best-of-breed" hardware from any vendor, and enjoy the best end user experience in printing.

Secure Print Management

ELarge amounts of money are spent every year by many organisations securing e-mail systems and data centers around the world but yet only a small percentage of money is spent in securing printing.

Print security threats are not only real, but also could and do manifest in enterprises. Gartner's research (March 2009) reveals that 70% of organizations have experienced one or more accidental data breach through printing. Achieving a Secure Print Infrastructure is an ongoing consideration for all responsible and compliant IT departments.

One Virtual Print Queue - One of the core components in UniPrint Infinity is its innovative Virtual Print Queue (VPQ). Together with UniPrint's UPD, it offers dual print security. By printing to a single print queue using UniPrint's UPD, the user's compressed print job is encrypted and stored on a holding server (the Bridge Server). The user then goes to an authentication device (the UniPrint vPad) and identifies him/herself either through a two factor authentication process or simply entering his/her corporate credentials and release the print job to the selected printer in the proximity.

Archiving & User Print Statistic Module - UniPrint Infinity now offers archiving and statistic modules as an additional measure to keep a printing log on your entire enterprise. With archiving enabled all print jobs in your environment can be archived as compressed PDF's in a database for either security or record keeping. This is especially valuable if your organization has to comply with governance or government regulation guidelines.

Data captured are: User Information: domain name, user ID; Print Job Information: Printer name, profile, page count, copies, date, job name; Other information: Printer ID, printer name and IP address, application name.

The other benefit of course is the ability to generate detailed reports regarding your environments printing trends and together with costing data will allow you to calculate the true costs of printing in your enterprise.

Two factor Authentication process - Implementing two factor authentication using UniPrint Infinity is rather simple. The UniPrint™ vPad is designed to be fully compatible with any smart card readers, and can incorporate RFID, HID or FOB devices already employed by organizations. The user can then create a secure alphanumeric pin as part of the process to release his/her print jobs. "Something you know and something you have."

The end result: With secure pull printing one eliminates the possibility of print outputs lying in the printer trays unattended and being picked up and viewed by unauthorized personnel or worst still by corporate espionage.

Simple to Deploy & Manage - Like other modules within UniPrint Infinity, these two modules can be centrally deployed and managed from a single GUI based management console.

Fast printing/Secure delivery - UniPrint's proprietary Bi-directional Information eXchange Protocol (BIXP) provides a direct and encrypted channel for the speedy transfer of compressed PDF print data, enabling secure delivery, faster print speed, as well as real-time update of printer status.

Improving Server stability -  UniPrint's universal printer driver replaces all manufacturer printer drivers on the Citrix/Microsoft Remote Desktop Server, eliminating instability issues found when printing in SbC environments.  For added redundancy and fault tolerance, UniPrint Infinity supports Microsoft clustering.

Optimising Bandwidth Availability - Typically print jobs are sent as uncompressed RAW or EMF data across limited bandwidth connections which often slow down printing, and can bring application access to a halt.  With UniPrint Infinity, print data is compressed by as much as 90% into PDF-based print jobs. Not only is the print job size significantly reduced, but now users can preview, e-mail or archive the print job in PDF format.

Remote deployment and centralised management - Administrators can remotely deploy any UniPrint component using Active Directory Group Policy. Once UniPrint Infinity has been installed, centralized printer management can be accomplished through the UniPrint Management Console from any UniPrint server component.

Enabling printing - UniPrint Infinity enhances printing in heterogeneous client environments. By using emulated print queues shared from the UniPrint Bridge, UniPrint Infinity removes the need for printer driver installation on both client machines and Citrix/Microsoft Remote Desktop Servers and isolates them on a Print Server. Thin/fat clients are able to print clientlessly to the Print Server using UniPrint emulated queues.
